IT minister KT Rama Rao launched a programme on Monday in order to facilitate payment of property tax on time. Citizens can now walk into State Bank of Hyderabad, Kotak Mahindra, IndusInd, ING Vysya, Yes Bank, Indian Bank and HDFC with their PTIN number/name/door number to pay their property tax.

All the 323 branches of these seven banks will have a dedicated section to collect the tax. This is apart from the existing property tax collection centres like the Mee-Seva and Citizen Service Centers in 18 circles of the GHMC and internet banking. KT Rama Rao appealed to the citizens to cooperate with the GHMC to pay their taxes on time.

Speaking at the launch, GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar said, “With the help of net banking, tax payers can save time. All cash transactions are tightly integrated with the GHMC property tax and fees system unlike cheques or DD transactions, which are subject to clearance from their respective banks,” he added. S Hari Krishna, additional commissioner (revenue), D Jayaraj Kennedy, additional commissioner (finance) and senior officials of the GHMC also participated in the programme.
