After years of conservation efforts finally making their impact felt, tiger population has grown by over 30 per cent since the turn of the decade, but the Modi government’s budget has made them poorer in terms of their slogan “Save Tiger Campaign.” While we can afford to pay our MLA’s and MP’s for no work and creating nuisance in Parliament, does the country needs to cut on budget for saving our ‘National Animal’? Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had slashed the allocation for Project Tiger to Rs 136.46 cr for 2015-16 from 161.02 cr of the last fiscal, a decrease of 15 per cent.
