Anantapur: Film actor and Hindupur MLA N Balakrishna expressed disappointment over the Union Budget for the financial year 2015-16 as there were no proper allocations for Andhra Pradesh. Speaking to the media after inspecting the second phase of works relating to the Handri-Neeva Sujala Sravanthi Project along with the district TDP leaders here on Monday, he lashed out at the Union Government for totally neglecting the interests of Andhra Pradesh.

The Union Budget neglected the agricultural sector, he said. Balakrishna said that it was highly disappointing that the Centre failed to accord special category status or sanction financial packages to the state. He urged the BJP-led NDA government to change its attitude. He failed to understand as to why the NDA government was giving a step-motherly treatment to the State. Moreover, there was no mention of funds to the backward areas, he said.

The Hindupur MLA said that it was unfortunate that the Centre became indifferent to the needs of Andhra Pradesh where a new capital has to be constructed, though the people voted for the TDP-BJP combine in the 2014 general elections. The people would revolt against the Central government if it continued to remain indifferent, he warned. He reminded the people that the Chief Minister has already made several trips to New Delhi to apprise the Prime Minister and other BJP leaders in this regard.

Balakrishna said that it was the responsibility of the Centre to release funds for the development of Andhra Pradesh and construction of a new capital. There was no money even to pay salaries to the government employees, he lamented. Irrigation Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, Information Technology Minister Palle Raghunath Reddy and Civil Supplies Minister Paritala Sunitha were present.
