Thammineni slams State and Central governments for anti-farmer policies

Hyderabad: The CPI (M) State Secretary Thammineni Veerabhadram alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who is currently eulogising Nizam with an eye on Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections, would be joining NDA shortly. Speaking to media persons on the eve of the party’s first State conference, he said the policies of both State and Central governments were favouring corporate companies at the expense of poorer sections of the society. Hence, it is most likely that TRS would be joining NDA immediately after GHMC elections.

Veerabhadram held that KCR who came to power with the promise of improving lives of the underprivileged has completely failed in achieving this. Rather, the Chief Minister is more focused on poaching public representatives of other political parties. He would be the only leader after former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy who was responsible for exodus of politicians in this massive scale with ‘Operation Akarsh’. “This is nothing but letting down people’s faith by a leader,” he said.

Critical of the government’s inaction in preventing increased number of farmer suicides in Telangana, former MLA Julakanti Ranga Reddy termed TRS government as ‘anti-farmer’. He held that the government has completely failed in controlling the suicides; even as the figures crossed 700 within nine months after the pink party came to power. “This is height of insensitivity towards farmer’s problems, as none of the leaders from the ruling party has approached the families of farmers who had committed suicide,” the CPI (M) leader lamented.
