No power cuts in Telangana by 2018 end: KCR
Chief Minister K Chadrashekar Rao declared that by the end of 2018, there will be no power cuts in Telangana. He said the State will also be able to provide 2,300 MW of power to neighbouring States. KCR visited Karimnagar district on Monday to inaugurate developmental projects and lay foundation stones to some other works along with Maharashtra Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao and Union Minister for Tribal Welfare Jual Oram.

The Chief Minister unveiled Komaram Bheem statue in Raikal along with Union Minister Jual Oram. Along with Maharashtra Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao and Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar Swamy, KCR inaugurated the building of Chinna Jeeyar Swamy Trust. He also laid foundation stone for a building to be constructed at a cost of Rs one crore for the ‘Educational and Research Bhawan and auditorium’ at Raikal.
Addressing a public meeting at Raikal, KCR said, “In Jagtial and Metpally mandals, more number of beedi workers are there. I know the problems of the beedi workers, staying in their houses I continued my education. We will give pensions to all the beedi workers. Whoever has not received the pension, can apply in the nearby tahasildar’s office. The sarpanches concerned should take the initiative in registering the names of those beedi workers who have not received the pensions.”
Speaking about the welfare schemes, the Chief Minister pointed out that the State government was providing pensions to the aged, widows and physically challenged. While the previous governments provided 20 kgs rice to white ration card holders, the TRS government was giving 6 kgs to each member of the family. He said drawing inspiration from Kakatiya Kings who promoted watershed programme, the government launched Mission Kakatiya for restoration of tanks and lakes across the State.
Referring to the power supply, he said that farmers in the State will be provided power supply from 6 am to 6 pm by 2017. By the end of 2018, there will be no power cuts in the State, he asserted. He said the government is committed providing drinking water to every household by the end of 2019 under the Water Grid Project. Chandrashekar Rao said the objective of the government is to turn Telangana into a model State in the country.
The Chief Minister said R and B roads would be laid at a cost of Rs 10,000 crore and Rs 5,000 crore has been allocated for Panchayat roads. District Collector Neethu Kumari Prasad, Parliamentary Secretary Satish Kumar, Nizamabad MP K Kavitha, Jagtial Congress MLA Jeevan Reddy, MLAs Gangula Kamalakar, Rasamai Bala Kishan, ZP Chairperson Tula Uma, Mayor S Ravinder Singh and other leaders were present at the meeting.
