Tandur (Ranga Reddy): MPTCs, sarpanches belonging to the TRS and Congress boycotted the general body meeting of Peddemul Mandal Parishad in the district on Tuesday alleging that mandal officials were showing negligence towards people’s problems.

Mandal Praja Parishad (MPP) president Vanisri presided over the general body meeting. Within a short time after the meeting commenced, some MPTCs and sarpanches stood up and brought to the notice of the mandal president that the mandal officials were not at all bothered to resolve people’s problems. They boycotted the meeting and expressed their protest by sitting in front of the mandal office.

Responding to their protest, MPDO Sandhya and MRO Prem Kumar pacified the MPTCs and sarpanches by saying that issues can be solved with discussions. Finally, the general body meeting resumed at 1 pm. MPTC Vidyasagar informed the officials that poor and weaker sections were facing difficulties without food security cards. He requested officials to sanction food security cards to the eligible as early as possible.

Gazipur MPTC Hasim brought to the notice of officials that pensions were sanctioned to ineligible persons. He said that the officials had made mistakes in selection of the eligible persons for pensions. Hasim asked the officials to rectify mistakes and sanction pensions for all eligible persons.

Mambapur sarpanch Renamma asked the officials as to why they did not erect iron electricity poles in the village despite telling them in the previous general body meeting. Villagers are in fear that electricity wires fitted to wooden poles might fell on them at any moment. ZPTC Swaroopa, MPTCs, sarpanches and other officials were present.
