Hyderabad: The four-day State conference of CPI (M) ended here on Wednesday with a poser to the Telangana government. Party State Secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram demanded that the TRS should make its stand clear whether it is closer to BJP or MIM.

  • KCR praises Nizam, but promises Komaraiah statues
  • TRS soft on BJP as it wants Union Cabinet berths

Addressing a mammoth gathering at Nizam College Grounds, Veerabhadram said that the TRS government is vacillating between BJP and MIM. Though speculations have been making rounds for long that TRS was trying to become an ally of NDA in return for a berth or two in the Union Cabinet, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was keeping mum on them. Tammineni said it was time the government cleared the air.

The CPI (M) said KCR was still behaving like an activist and not as Chief Minister. He must be more focused on the development of Telangana. The Left party cautioned KCR that all the Left parties would put a united fight against the government’s policies, if it failed to change its approach towards people. He questioned the rationality of TRS party chief eulogising Nizam, even as promised to install the statue of Doddi Komaraiah, who was killed during the Nizam’s era.

CPI (M) politburo member Sitaram Yechury said the country was heading towards ‘political crises.’ The BJP which had won general elections had lost credibility amongst the masses and this was clearly evident in the Delhi election results. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was focusing more on touring different countries and doing favours to the corporates rather than addressing the people’s issues.

Describing the Communists as the real patriots, B V Raghavulu ridiculed BJP’s claim to be the sole nationalists. He held that the Communist movement had a history of revolutionaries who fought during the freedom struggle. Freedom Fighter Mallu Swarajyam came down heavily on the TRS government for its failure to fulfil the promises it had made during the elections. She questioned as to why the government could not provide housing to poor, while earmarking 50,000 acres of land for establishment of industries. She warned the State government that people’s movement would bring it down to its knees.
