Hyderabad: In a heart rending incident, a brave heart lost his life trying to save an eight-year-old from a sudden blaze. The incident happend at at Saleem Nagar under Malakpet police station limits on Wednesday. The neighbour in a vain attempt to save an eight-month-old girl died of suffocation when thick smoke engulfed him followed by a fire breakout at a house, inside which the child and her family members were sleeping.

According to police, sparks due to an electric short circuit triggered the fire in the house at around 4.30 pm killing the child, Bushra Begum, and the neighbour, Sayed Mehboob Ali, 50, who risked his life to save the family. “The flames spread engulfing the entire house where the child, Bushra Begum, was sleeping along with her mother Samira Begum and her four-year-old sister Hafsa Begum.

As the fire spread to the adjacent rooms, a thick blanket of smoke swallowed up the whole area which prevented their movement. Samira managed to escape out of the house and cried for help. Hearing their cries, Mehboob rushed inside the room and emerged out safe in his first attempt to save Hafsa, but in the second attempt he was trapped inside. He and the child died due to smoke inhalation,” sub-inspector K Venkatram Reddy said, adding that the bodies carried no signs of burn injuries.
