Villagers stall SCCL works
Villagers of Rachapalli stalled the ongoing works of the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) in their village on Wednesday alleging that the Singareni management failed to pay compensation for some houses. They also complained that the villagers were falling sick frequently because of pollution caused by the SCCL works.
Manthani (Karimnagar): Villagers of Rachapalli stalled the ongoing works of the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) in their village on Wednesday alleging that the Singareni management failed to pay compensation for some houses. They also complained that the villagers were falling sick frequently because of pollution caused by the SCCL works. A villager Narsing Rao said that the SCCL had acquired houses from Rachapalli village two years ago.
He said that the SCCL had paid compensation to a majority of houses in the village. However, compensation was not paid to some houses. Another villager Srinivas said that villagers were facing breathing problems as the SCCL has taken up the digging works very close to the village. The villagers demanded that the Singareni management should continue their work by clearing compensation dues and rehabilitating them.
