Many may not know the services rendered by Poruri Lakshmi Narasimharao of Chirala, who comes from Taranaga family, whose disciples are well known in music circles. B Lalitha, Bhagi Narayana Sastry, Prakhya Anjaneya Sastry are some of his disciples. Disciples of Poruri Lakshmi Narasimha Rao and his family members have been conducting a memorial concert every year to put the spotlight on new talent. This year’s memorial concert had three young talents performing at Thyagaraya Gana Sabha Kala Vedika.

Violin vidwan Komanduri Seshadri’s grandson Komanduri Jayaram (10) stood up to the pressure of upholding his family name and handled the bow majestically. The select audience appreciated the lad’s efforts with thunderous applause. Baby Avadhanula Sree Harshitha gave a modest show of her vocal ability. Harshitha rendered Vathapi, Kanugontini and Pancha Shatpeetha krithis with confidence.

Baby Sree Harshitha’s mother thanked the organisers for giving her daughter a chance to perform in spite of the fact that Harshitha had participated in reality shows. It is important that parents encourage children in the divine art of classical music. Poruri’s disciple AR Pradhith stole the show by performing Thyagaraja keerthanas and those of other Vaggeyakaras.

Pradhith started his recital with a Vasantha raga varnam and went on with “Vallabhanayakasya”, a begada of Deekshitar, before dealing with “Undedi Ramudokkade” (Harikambhoji). He showed his best in the “Malayamarutham” (Manasa Etulorthuney) and “Vachaspathi” (Kanta Joodumee), showcasing the amount of training the he received from Guru Seshadri.

Komadnuri Ananhta Sorui Rajan on violin and T Durga Prasad on mridangam lent instrumental support to the young vocalist. Pradhith is a medicine student and given his age his voice is bound to change. With continued training, it is certain that he will certainly prosper in the music field.
