GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar took stock of unauthorised flex banners, hoardings, sign boards in and around Ameerpet on Thursday following complaints from the public near Mythrivanam and Aditya Enclave Centre. These buildings house most of the educational institutions, coaching centers and other commercial establishments who erect unauthorised hoardings and distributing brochures.

These commercial establishments and education institutions contribute to the clutter with a carpet of pamphlets. The whole sight angered the GHMC Commissioner while on inspection. These establishments have been warned from installing hoardings and flex banners in the area as they pose a serious threat to the citizens apart from blocking ventilation.

Somesh Kumar interacted with the members of the association and directed them to remove all unauthorised hoardings, flex banners by the evening of March 7 failing which the GHMC enforcement cell would act duly imposing fines. Taking serious note of the issue, the GHMC Commissioner took steps to curb this menace.

He said that heavy penalty will be imposed if anybody fails to follow the orders. Also those who fail to comply with the Commissioner’s orders, in the coming days their business establishments and institutions will be seized. The Commissioner appealed all the commercial establishments, educational institutions and other shops operating in the area to cooperate with the civic body to ensure cleanliness in the area and to follow fire safety measures.

“The GHMC enforcement, Town Planning and Sanitation wing have already cleared all the unauthorised banners, posters, pamphlets etc., and the garbage has been removed by the special sanitation team,” the Commissioner said. He announced Rs 5 food scheme will be introduced shortly in these areas for the convenience of the students and the poor. He further directed the concerned officials to put up the proposal for constructing toilets in the area on priority. The Commissioner also appealed the citizens of the city to pay the property tax, trade license and other taxes to make Hyderabad a World Class City.
