SHRC notice to top health babus

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh State Human Rights Commission Chairman Justice Nisar Ahmad Kakru on Thursday suo motu took up the issue of official callousness when a pregnant tribal woman who went to the Government Mandal Civil Hospital in Nizamabad for delivery was mercilessly turned back by the hospital authorities, which was reported in The Hans India on Wednesday. The hapless woman gave birth on the hospital premises. The commission issued notices to the Principal Secretary, Department of Health, Medical and Family Welfare and the District Medical and Health Officer, Nizamabad. The Commision considered the matter and listed for further consideration on March 17.
