Sai Aakash, an SSC student from the city, had come up with an idea of making the list of blood donors readily available on the internet for patients in need of blood during medical emergencies. Taking cue from Sai’s idea, a website www.motherbloodbank.com at the Vijaya Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Women was launched on Monday.
The website contains accurate information and contact details of donors of all blood groups. About 1.6 lakh volunteers who are ready to donate their blood have registered their names on the website.
More than 500 students gave acceptance letters to donate their blood through the blood bank to mark the launch of the website. Blood grouping tests were conducted for students on the occasion. Institute chairman BS Apparao, principal K Padmalatha and faculty members were present.
