EUS technology to treat gastroenterological ailments

The Memorial Afsar Naseem Khatoon Institute of Digestive Diseases (MANKInDD) launched an advanced Endoscopy Ultrasound Machine (EUS) at Himayathnagar on Thursday. The technology interprets the radiological imaging in patients referred to a tertiary referral centre with a suspected pancreatic or hepatobiliary malignancy.

Dr Rakesh Kumar Adi, a gastroenterologist in the city, said, “Gastroenterological problems are very common these days. The onset of 21st century has seen major rise in problems with hyper acidity, ulcers, stones in pancreas, liver related diseases and hepatitis. The rise in these figures has led to problems like malignant tumors, ulcers and cancers in the gastroenterological region. With the launch of EUS, complex endoscopies and major surgical problems can be performed efficiently. The technology is cost efficient and saves time in treatment of complex procedures.”
