The world cup semi final match between India and Australia ended on a disappointing note after defending champions India lost to the best cricket team. Till now, India's performance had been flawless and much celebrated by the fans. However, fans had a major heartbreak with the team's defeat at the SCG in Sydney on Thursday.

As expected, fans went berserk making villains out of every Indian player. A scapegoat amid all this frenzy was Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma who had gone all the way to Sydney to watch the game and cheer for her beau and Indian vice captain Virat Kohli. Minutes after the match ended, there was huge disappointment among Indians particularly after Virat got out early.

Fans found an easy target and blamed Anushka's presence for Kohli and India's poor show today. A few fans went on a rampage burning effigies of players and breaking television sets. While veteran cricketers including Sachin Tendulkar and actor Amitabh Bachchan lauded the efforts of the Indian cricket, nothing could stop the rage and fury of fans who just couldn't come to terms with the fact that India had to return home without the World Cup Trophy which was till now assumed to be ours.

Advertisements like Mauka Mauka had raised hopes of Indian fans not to mention the Indian team's consistent performance throughout the tournament. MS Dhoni sure deserves all the credit for holding his head high and leading the team to victories amid great pressure. Loss or defeat is temporary. But it's high time Indian fans treated players as humans and took everything in their stride.
