GHMC to clean 14 lakes of water hyacinth
he Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has initiated the works on removal of water hyacinth from city\'s prominent lakes. According to the municipal corporation, as many as 14 lakes have been identified for removal of water hyacinth.
Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has initiated the works on removal of water hyacinth from city's prominent lakes. According to the municipal corporation, as many as 14 lakes have been identified for removal of water hyacinth. They are Chinnayasuri Cheruvu, Vennela Gadda Cheruvu, Pariki Cheruvu, RK Puram Cheruvu (small patches), Palle Cheruvu (Mailardevpally), Gurram Cheruvu (Barkas), Surram Cheruvu (Bandlaguda), Kapra Cheruvu, Errakunta Cheruvu, Nalla Cheruvu, Saroor Nagar Lake, Durgam Cheruvu, Gopinath Cheruvu and Sunnam Cheruvu. The GHMC has set the order of preference for removal of hyacinth in these lakes. As per the GHMC, the works would be first taken up for Chinnayasuri Cheruvu of Alwal, Vennelagadda Cheruvu in Qutubullapur, Sunnam Cheruvu in Kukatpally and Gurram Cheruvu of Barkas.
