On Saturday, a test run was planned where two police vehicles covered the Sriram Navami processions in the city. The city police will be using cameras that can not only record events occurring in front of the vehicle but also record events all around the patrol car in 360 degrees.
The cameras can record police actions and record crimes which can be used in court as evidence said Police Commissioner Mahender Reddy.
In two months, the cameras will be installed on 300 SUVs. Officials state that the police Commissionerate in Basheerbagh will monitor live all the streets that are videotaped. In addition to the mounted camera on top of the vehicle, a dashboard camera will also be installed to cover the interior of the vehicle in order to monitor the actions of police officers.
