Hyderabad: In a broad daylight burglary, thieves struck at three locked flats of an apartment on the main road in Karmanghat under Saroornagar police station limits. They made away with 84 tolas of gold, 50 tolas of silver besides Rs 1 lakh and an expensive cell phone.

Within few minutes after the residents of flat number 303, 304 and 305 of Sai Balaji Homes left the building to attend Sitarama Kalyanam celebrations in nearby Hanuman temple, burglars broke the locks open and barged into three flats of the building and fled with the booty.

Interestingly, the apartment is on the main road of Nagarjuna Sagar Road, housing shops and bank ATMs of HDFC and ICICI. After returning from the temple at about 4 pm, the residents were shocked to see their door locks and almirahs broken. “We lost 30 tolas of gold and 50 tolas of silver ornaments,” cried Vijaya Laxmi, one of the residents. They immediately informed the police, who registered a case and took up the investigation.
