Imagine a gadget which is equipped with CCTVs, mobile charging points, wi-fi and a mirror. Doesn’t sound exciting? What if the gadget is a dustbin! The world will now have a different perspective of a dustbin thanks to a city-based firm which has invented Smart Bins.
“Yes, it is a bin. But there’s more to it. It offers wi-fi, shoe polish, waste management, news and information. It appreciates you for your concern on keeping the surroundings clean. The bins also dole time and weather updates and are equipped with CCTVs, panic buttons, charging ports for mobile and computers and mirrors.
An added bonus is that the machine gives out discount coupons when it is used,” said Sireesh Pallikonda, CEO of Waken India Network Advertising Pvt. Ltd which designed the Smart Bins.The bins were launch by IT Minister KT Rama Rao along with MP AP Jithender Reddy, MLC Mohd Shabbir Ali and others at the JRC Convention Centre in Jubilee Hills recently.
“This is a world driven by technology and people are smarter these days. We can control just about everything with a smartphone. Why not the same with a Smart Bin?” questioned Sireesh.Smart Bins are integrated with compression rollers for effective utilisation of the available volume.

Integrated sensors will show the continual update of the bin capacity. A text message and a call will be sent to the person responsible to clean the bins whenever they are filled to 75 per cent and 100 per cent of their capacity respectively.
