Panchayat Raj and IT Minister K Taraka Rama Rao said that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government is committed to restore 46,000 tanks across the State in the next five years under the Mission Kakatiya project. Taraka Rama Rao inaugurated the de-silting work of a tank at Jillella village at a cost of Rs 40 lakh on Tuesday. He himself dug out the soil from the tank and dumped it in a tractor.

Sircilla (Karimnagar): Panchayat Raj and IT Minister K Taraka Rama Rao said that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government is committed to restore 46,000 tanks across the State in the next five years under the Mission Kakatiya project. Taraka Rama Rao inaugurated the de-silting work of a tank at Jillella village at a cost of Rs 40 lakh on Tuesday. He himself dug out the soil from the tank and dumped it in a tractor.

Later, the Minister personally drove the tractor along with the heavy load of soil. Speaking on the occasion, Taraka Rama Rao said that development of villages is possible when tanks are restored. He pointed out that officials have prepared plans to restore 46,000 tanks across the State. He said that groundwater levels would rise in open wells and borewells in the coming months once tanks are restored.

He stated that farmers would benefit with availability of water in open wells and borewells. He said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was ready to spend crores of rupees for supplying quality power to farmers. KTR said that offices of Agriculture and Panchayat Raj Departments would be opened soon in Sircilla town. Taraka Rama Rao pointed out that students of government schools and welfare hostels are eating food cooked with superfine quality rice in TRS rule.
