An alleged press release from the BCCI heralded Sachin Tendulkar as the new coach of the Indian team for the period of three years. Almost all websites, news media and channels took it as great news and welcomed the decision amidst all the fans excitement.
But to everyone's shock, the sensational news was widely spread on the eve of April fool’s Day. The topic was trending on Facebook and Twitter for a while, before it was confirmed as a fake.
It was also reported that the decision was made only after serious discussions between Srinivasan, Ravi Shastri, Dhoni and Kohli.
The alleged press note was on new BCCI chairman Jagmohan Dalmia letter head (normally all BCCI news is on BCCI banner). Though it was obvious and as fake news, the optimistic minded cricket media and fans fell for it. Even now, some even hold on to the belief that it could become a reality one day or other soon.
