Khammam: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday urged the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari for the extension of National Highway 563 up to NH-365 A in Khammam. In a letter to Mr Gadkari, the CM said,”With regard to NH-563, it was mentioned in the gazette that as ‘National Highway starting near Mancherial on NH-63 connecting Karimnagar and terminating at NH-163 near Warangal.’ There are two routes from Mancherial to Warangal.

One route via Jagtial and Karimnagar, and the other directly via Karimnagar. Of this, the road from Mancherial to Jagtial, which is about 70 km is already part of NH-63 (Old NH-16) and the road from Mancherial to Karimnagar is a state highway developed into four-lane under PPP. As such, the NH 563, as taken over by NH Authority, starts at Jagtial and terminates at Warangal connecting Karimnagar en route.”

The letter requested that NH 563 be extended up to Khammam to join NH 365-A utilising the leftover length from Mancherial to Jagtial. MR Chandrasekhar Rao said that it would help in establishing connectivity to the industrial belt of Maharashtra with the mineral belt of Telangana.
