Telangana employees plead for promotions for sons of soil

Hyderabad: Telangana State Employees’ Associations have appealed to the government not to go ahead with its decision to award promotions to senior employees. If the government implements the decision, it will benefit those employees who have opted for Andhra Pradesh also. The government, through GO number 695, took the decision to lift ban on promotions, appointments, transfers, revision of seniority and change in terms and conditions of employment since division of employees through Kamalanathan Committee was getting delayed.

Employee leaders initially were in favor of biding time until staff division formalities were over. However, the inordinate delay in completing the formalities by the Central committee made the employees associations to plead with the government to lift the ban on promotions to help those on the verge of retirement.

Hence, a few employee leaders took this issue to the notice of the government after which GO-595 was issued in first week of March. Telangana employees were of the opinion that promotions would be given to staff from the region working in various departments. However, what baffled them was the enthusiasm of a few top officials to implement the GO in their respective departments.

Now, the Telangana State Employees’ Associations contends that since Kamalanathan panel has not completed the process, it is not proper to implement the decision in a few departments like MAUD, Commercial Tax, GHMC, Secretariat etc. Moreover, injustice would be done to staff hailing from this region, Telangana employee leaders said.
