Speaking on the occasion, Venkateswara Rao said that they are going to implemen several measures to prevent traffic hurdles in the city as the number of vehicles has increased after the city became the capital region.

He added that priority will be given to the views of public before making any decisions. Municipal commissioner G Veerapandian stressed the need for infrastructure development in the city to improve the flow of traffic. He cautioned that the traffic will multiply once the chief minister starts functioning from his camp office. Lorry owners association president YV Eswara Rao opined that road junctions should be improved at Tadigadapa and Enikepadu as heavy vehicles are diverted from entering into the city and the condition of the Mahanadu Road should be improved.

Industrial area association chairman K Durgaprasad recommended that police should allow free movement of vehicles in Autonagar as vehicles from all parts of the state will reach autonagar. Hawkers association president Neelam Durga Rao suggested that vehicles should not be allowed on Beasant Road in the evening as thousands of people visit the road for shopping. e-Challan not to burden people Venkateswara Rao cited that there was no truth in reports that excess fine was being imposed through e-Challan, which was introduced in 2010.

He added that the police are very lenient towards minor traffic violations and are imposing fines only in the case of repeated violations. “400 e-challans are being issued each day against 12,000 in Hyderabad. Over 3.8 lakh traffic violators failed to pay a fine of Rs 5.5 crore since 2010,” he said. The commissioner of police said that there was no truth in campaign launched by auto drivers on excess collection of fine through e-challan. He said that the police are imposing fine as per government orders.
