Hyderabad: Once the schools reopen for the new academic session, the District Collectors and IPS officers are likely to assume the role of teachers in government schools. This idea was mooted by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Saturday during the Collectors conference. Rao exhorted IAS, IPS and other senior officials to lend their knowledge to the students through their teachings in classrooms and make them successful in the competitive world.

He also urged the officials also to admit their children in government schools to promote education through public institutions. Reviewing the progress in education and welfare programmes with Collectors and SPs on the second day here, KCR asserted that children be made strong enough and compete in grabbing job opportunities on the world platform. With the technological advancement, world of opportunities was knocking at the doorsteps of students.

The only big challenge was to qualify in the competition for which they required skills and good guidance. The officials having vast knowledge would help the students to sharpen their skills, the CM said, and added that the officials should come forward and help the future generations.

Reiterating that his government would launch KG to PG education programme from next year as the draft for modalities for the new scheme are near completion, KCR said if the children of the officials joined the government schools, poor students studying in the same institutions would be encouraged to pursue higher studies and also help to set big goals in their life.

The Chief Minister made it clear that the present education system would be continued even after the KG to PG scheme launched in a big way. Besides giving top priority to English in the new scheme, Telugu language would also be given similar importance. He instructed the officials to provide all basic amenities like toilets and drinking water in the government schools as there was no dearth of funds.
