A portal, www.meedoctor.in, has developed by an enterprising techie Srikar Vadde to promote interaction between a patient and a doctor. The website was formally launched by Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, the minister said, “The website is very useful and I cannot hold back from congratulating Srikar who developed it. There is a need to bridge the gap between a patient and a doctor by integrating various services. Telemedicine is catching on now.

The new website will help a patient get an easy access to a doctor and is useful to further extend the reach of telemedicine.” Explaining about the website, Srikar said, “It contains three modules - patient module, doctor module and diagnostic module, which cater to the specialised needs of visitors. Video chat, conferencing and other facilities are also made available.

We encourage patients to fix an appointment with a doctor of their choice through the website. It also offers suggestions and provides information about diagnostic services.” Andhra Hospitals managing director Dr PV Ramana Murthy, Indian Medical Association (IMA) Vijayawada Chapter president Dr PSN Murthy, secretary Dr N Ravindranath, Capital Region Builders Association chairman A Nagamalleswara Rao and others were present on the occasion.
