SCCL bags Golden Peacock Award in UAE

Hyderabad: Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) has been awarded Golden Peacock Innovative Product / Service Award for 2015 at a function held in Dubai on Monday. The company was chosen for ‘Processed Overburden Utilisation as Stowing and Construction Material’.The award was presented by Sheik Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Social Development, UAE, at the Golden Peacock Night Function. N Sridhar, CMD of SCCL, received the Award for the year 2015.
The Golden Peacock Awards, instituted by the Institute of Directors, India, in 1991 are now regarded as a benchmark of corporate excellence. The award jury under the chairmanship of Arijit Pasayat, former Judge, Supreme Court of India, selected SCCL for developing this innovative product which can be readily used in the field and has been certified as a green initiative by the collieries.
An innovative initiative has been taken for processing overburden material for generating material equivalent to sand for “stowing and construction” and started processing at overburden plant at Bhupalpally in 2010. The processed material is suitable for civil constructions and passed the method test IS:2386-1963 and is being used for stowing in underground mines by SCCL replacing river sand.
