Chain snatchers held; jewellery recovered
Metpalli police busted a five-member gang involved in vehicle thefts and chain- snatchings on Tuesday. Gold ornaments worth Rs 5.27 lakh and two bikes were recovered from them. Producing the gang members before media persons here on Tuesday, District Superintendent of Police, V Shiva Kumar explained the modus operandi of the gang. Based on a tip-off, Metpalli police detained the gang members, he said.

Chintari Srinivas,24, native of Alayagutta village of Korutla mandal, Kadamanchi Shankar,25, of Mirjapur village of Birkur mandal of Nizamabad, Kondavalli Parsharamulu, 25, Chintalwad of Korutla mandal, Kandamanchi Papaiah,24, Birkur of Nizamabad, and Nune Parsharamulu, 25, were arrested by the police. They used to snatch chains by sprinkling chilli powder in the eyes of women and lift vehicles from parking places, SP said.
