Talk about the best Italian fine dining restaurant in town and all the fingers point to Prego - The Westin Mindspace and what better when Prego expands to offer open skies, pleasant weather, view of pristine blue waters & pleasurable Mediterranean cuisine for company. I was invited for the launch of the new Prego – Alfresco last week and true to my expectation the setting was spectacular.

With a canopied seating, Prego features two segments, a Single Malt & Cigar Lounge and the second segment is of a Patio dining. The single Malt & Cigar Lounge featured exclusive single malts & cigars along with exclusive grills while the Patio dining had sumptuous delicacies from Prego, tantalizing grills as well as an extensive collection of wines.
The all-new menu had Mediterranean feel to it with Healthy salads, some good bakes and great use of Mediterranean vegetables. I began my gourmet experience of the new menu with Amuse Bouche, a small complimentary appetizer of roasted bell pepper & goat cheese pinwheel.
While the next course was yet to be served, I relished the complimentary Mezze platter of three dips (Tabbouleh, Hummus, Tzatziki ) & three breads (Zattar spiced, the regular flat bread & Khubus). The sparkling Jacobs Creek wine was the perfect accompaniment for the food to start with.
The Mediterranean antipasto included chili marinated olive, a pickled grape, caramelized fig, baked artichoke, crunchy ciabatta bruschetta & olive tapenade which set the pace to the Mediterranean delicacies.
The tuna salad consisted of asparagus, mix lettuce, avocados & smoked tuna topped with sweetened orange which was great! From the mains, the Mediterranean Lamb pie was the star of the evening, a layered eggplant with lamb ragout and topped with béchamel (white sauce) & parmesan.
This was beyond brilliant, however the topping of fried potato chips dint add on to the beauty of the lamb pie instead I would’ve preferred the regular mashed potato or some grilled vegetables. Jacobs’s creek Shiraz cabernet red wine paired with this went well for the mains.
The second main was the Lemon Chicken, which had chicken breasts grilled with a hint of oregano, in a lemon dressing served along balsamic glazed potato and spinach. This was done to perfection! The Dessert platter had a Phyllo Wrap & a Bougasta. The Phyllo wrap was a sweet phyllo pastry stuffed with chopped nuts drizzled with honey & lemon while Bougasta was a rolled layered pastry of semolina custard and cheese.
The desserts were simply outstanding especially the Bougasta ! The service as always was impeccable with minute attention to details! Prego Alfresco & Grills would definitely be a hallmark and it’s sure to create an atmosphere of chic relaxation high above the bustling streets of Hyderabad, a perfect set up for an incomparable romantic repast or an impressive business diner or perhaps even for an unforgettable family get-together.
