AP Sets Up 8-Member SIT On Seshachalam Encounter. The Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police JV Ramudu has set up an eight member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the encounter that took place in the Chalamala range of Seshachalam forest on 7 April in which 20 wood cutters were shot dead by the Special Task Force (STF) men and the cases registered following that incident there after.

The Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police JV Ramudu has set up an eight member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the encounter that took place in the Chalamala range of Seshachalam forest on 7 April in which 20 wood cutters were shot dead by the Special Task Force (STF) men and the cases registered following that incident there after.

In a late night move on Friday, the DGP declared that SIT will be headed by Dr Ravi Shankar Ayyanar, IG who recently completed his stint in the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Other members are BV Ramana Kumar (DIG, Kurnool), G Pala Raju SP (Technical), L Chandrasekhar Additional SP (West Godavari district),N Yugandhar Babu (DSP,CID),K Raghu (DSP,CID), G Madhusudhan, (CI, Korukonda, East Godavari), and S Chandrasekhar (CI Chittoor).

The SIT formation is in compliance of Hyderabad high court directive to set up a SIT in its interim verdict on a PIL on the Sheshachalam encounter.
