The NRIs, across the globe, can participate in this unique historical opportunity by making huge investments in these projects which represent a win-win situation both to the NRIs and to the Telangana State", said the first women Telangana Member of Parliament, Ms. KavithaKalvakuntla, at a high-profile reception organized by prominent business and community leaders, under the leadership of IftekharShareef at his sprawling residence in Lincolnwood, Illinois. The event was also graced by the Consul General of India, Dr. AusafSayeed, former Mayor of Cicero city, Mr. Ramiro Gonzalez, and US Congressional candidate Raja Krishnamoorthi.

Continuing her address, Ms. Kavitha stated that the Government of Telengana State has enhanced the social security network, at a staggering pace, in order to take better care of the poor, the needy and the aged. She added that generous budgetary provisions have been made in order to make them important stakeholders inachieving the cherished goal of balanced socio-economic transformation of the State.

Amidst applause Ms. Kavitha announced that she was going to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between Chicago State University and Telangana University, which would provide for student/faculty exchange, sharing of academic resources, joint research/training initiatives, and global exposure to the students of Telengana State. She urged NRIs to host ‘Bathkamma’ festival on the lines and scale of Gujarati Garba with a view to giving a boost to the Telangana culture.

At the national front, Ms. Kavitha pointed out that the relationship between the Chief Minister K.Chandrashekhar Rao and the Prime Minister NarendraModi is vibrant, which is paving the way for the multifaceted development of the State. She lauded NarendraModi profusely for his vision of redefining the federal concept that gives more power to the individual states to govern their destinies.

Ms. Kavitha called upon the need on the part of the Indians not only to catch up with the economic growth rate of China but also to exceed it and felt that the NRIs can contribute their mite in accelerating this momentum. Referring to the processing of the Green Card proposals to the Chinese in an expeditious fashion, she requested the US authorities to extend the same treatment to the Indian professionals considering their fairy tale fusion of positive work ethics, mastery over the English language, and the skills in computer software, networking and hardware.

Consul General of India, Dr. AusafSayeed, who also welcomed Ms. Kavitha, stated that he had the good fortune of meeting her father, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, Chief Minister of Telengana State, during his visit to Hyderabad early this year and discussing specific proposals and initiatives. Consul General outlined his plans to facilitate collaborations between institutions/universities including Purdue University, University of Chicago, and University of Illinois. He said that he has extended an invitation to the Chief Minister to lead a trade delegation to the USA.

Host IftekharShareef, a native Telanganite, stated that Telangana Sate has a buoyant market for lucrative investments, especially in the area of the augmentation of solar energy. He added that the business climate in Telangana is ripe with outstanding investment opportunities which provide a platform to the NRIs for serving not only the State of their origin but also to reap a healthy return on the investments. He urged all Telugu Associations, across the globe, to join hands in promoting ‘Bathkamma’ festival, and in giving a boost to Hyderabadi Urdu talent. He concluded by saying that he will play his part in vigorously promoting ‘Brand Telangana’.

In his brief remarks, former Mayor Ramirez Gonzalez said that he looks forward to the opportunity to paying a visit to the Telangana State to advance business relationships in multiple areas.

Later, Raja Krishnamoorthi, US Congressional candidate joined in commending Ms. Kavitha and in reiterating the importance of solar energy as a key area of investment and collaboration.

Keerthi Kumar Ravoori, Immediate-past FIA President presented a shawl and bouquet to Ms. Kavitha on behalf of FIA-Chicago.
