30 Hyderabadis stranded in Kathmandu devastation
About 30 Hyderabadis, who include octogenarians, are stranded in the Himalayan nation after a high magnitude earthquake struck the nation. The group was taken to the Himalayan Kingdom by Sri Saibaba Travels. The 13-day tour started on April 17 and the members were to have returned on Saturday.

Balraj, a resident of RTC Colony at Ramanthpur, whose wife is stranded, said, “She is safe but they are worried as there are old people too among the group. The travel agent said the roads are in bad condition and the return journey may get delayed by a few days. If the Union government airlifts them, it would be of immense help to people with diabetes.”
Another couple P Nageshwar Rao and P Sarala are now in Kathmandu. Their grandson, Nikhil said both were safe but were taking refuge in an open yard close to the hotel. The tour operator, Gowrishankar said all the members were safe and had been moved to a ground close to the Pashupatinath temple. A relative of Lalithamma, aged 80, and resident of Ramanthapur said “We are worried that she may not be able to take the mental strain over the delay.
The tour operator said the return journey can take place only after normality returned. The tour party was to have returned on Saturday and reached Varanasi and from there they were to have boarded a train to Hyderabad. Now with uncertainty looming large, the relatives of the stranded persons are a worried lot. Meanwhile, the Telangana government urged the Centre to ensure that all the Telugu’s return safely from the earthquake ravaged Khatmandu.

On the other hand the Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya spoke to Union External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and urged to see that all the 60 Telugu-speaking people were brought back to both the Telugu states safely. Sushma told Dattatreya that the Centre has already taken necessary measures in this direction and would see that they return safe. She also advised them to get in touch with the Indian Embassy in Nepal for assistance.
