Hyderabad: A group of 60 pilgrims from Warasiguda here which had reached Kathmandu on Saturday morning have been unreachable over cell phones. According to the family members, the group informed them about reaching Kathmandu in the morning, however, when the family members tried to contact them after knowing about the massive earthquake that hit Nepal, they could not be reached over cell phones.

KVR Prasad, one of those whose relatives are in this group, said, "After learning about the earthquake I called them up, but the calls didn't go through." The group, comprising mostly senior citizens, had left the city on April 21 for Allahabad. After visiting Ayodhya and Gorakhpur they reached Kathmandu this morning.

Meanwhile, relatives of 28 persons, who had gone to Nepal as a part of tour organised by Saibaba Travels, heaved a sigh of relief after being able to call them and learning about their safety. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has ordered the Tourism department to extend necessary help to the tourists from the state who are stranded in Kathmandu. The department has been asked to make arrangements to locate and bring them back, an official release here said.

The state government has also requested the Indian embassy in Nepal to find out if any more tourists from Telangana are stranded. Senior state officials are also in contact with the Nepalese officials. Though tremors were felt in some parts of neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, the state itself felt no tremors after a massive earthquake hit Nepal and north India on Saturday morning.
