Left parties burn effigy of Centre
Activists of the CPI and the CPI-M burnt an effigy of the Central government here on Saturday, demanding special category status to Andhra Pradesh. The leaders of the two parties slammed the BJP-led NDA government for not fulfilling the promise of granting special status to the State. The government had gone back on its promise.

CPI-M leader Nagaraju demanded that the Telugu Desam Party government lead an all-party delegation to Delhi to impress upon the Centre to grant special status to AP. He warned that the Left parties would intensify agitation.The CPI leader Nagarjuna criticised the TDP government for becoming a puppet in the hands of the Centre and neglecting the State’s development. He said it was not right for the BJP to deny the special status to AP after giving an assurance to people during the 2014 elections.
