SCR gets pat on the back for surpassing targets
Ajay Shukla, Member, Traffic, Railway Board, made a visit to South Central Railway (SCR) and held a meeting with General Manager P K Srivastava, Principal Heads of Departments and Divisional Railway Managers of South Central Railway at Rail Nilayam in Secunderabad on Saturday.

Hyderabad: Ajay Shukla, Member, Traffic, Railway Board, made a visit to South Central Railway (SCR) and held a meeting with General Manager P K Srivastava, Principal Heads of Departments and Divisional Railway Managers of South Central Railway at Rail Nilayam in Secunderabad on Saturday.
The meeting discussed various issues related to freight loading, faster mobility of freight rakes, safety and security, revenue generation and strategies to meet freight loading targets, increasing speed in railway sidings, speeding up completion of traffic facility works and so on. Addressing the meeting, Shukla commended Srivastava for leading the zone in surpassing the Railway Boards target for freight loading and recording a significant jump in revenue earnings in the financial year 2014-15.
Expressing confidence that SCR will continue with the same momentum, the Member Traffic wanted the zone to chalk out a comprehensive strategy for attaining the freight loading target of 128 million tonnes set for the year 2015-16. Towards this, every effort should be made to draw up freight loading priorities and facilitate faster mobility, which will also enable earn customer satisfaction for the zone, he added.
Shukla said that the scenario ahead in the country showed a lot of demand from the market economy which would translate into freight movement potential for Railways. He also stressed on the expected jump in coal loading, in view of the fact that issues pertaining to coal blocks had been cleared and the government had chalked out a plan to provide 24X7 power supply all over the country in the next four years.
Towards this, a comprehensive plan could be formulated in terms of initiating systemic improvements and innovative measures in the areas of wagon movement by curtailing equipment failure like signal failure, hot axle, train parting, rail fracture, loco failure, stalling’s etc.
Srivastava stated that SCR was committed to live up to the expectations of the Railway Board in terms of its performance including in freight loading. Going further, the General Manager stated that SCR was geared to handle the anticipated growth in this area.
