Taking forward Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ambitious 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan', around 100 students took part in a cleanliness rally in Srinagar on Monday.

The students swept the roads, collected garbage littered on the roadside and dumped it in dustbins during the rally.
Harpreet, the organizer, said the rally aimed at encouraging the children to keep their surroundings clean.
"Today, 100 children took part in this cleanliness campaign and they were now motivated. If today we can get one child to take part in such a campaign, tomorrow 10 children from one family will be ready to be part of such initiatives. So, through this campaign we are telling children how they can contribute to keeping their environment clean," said Harpreet.
She added that similar rallies were being regularly organised since the last one and a half month.
Tabiya, a student who participated in this rally, said the message is to keep the surroundings clean.
"Today, we cleaned up the roads as a part of this rally. Through this rally, we want to convey the message that we should keep our surroundings clean including roads, schools, homes and especially keep Srinagar clean," she said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' on the birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on October 2 last year to modernise sanitation within five years.
