State keen on implementing proposals to develop banks of River Krishna in both Vijayawada and Guntur to attract tourists

The banks of Krishna River in both Guntur and Krishna districts are going to emerge as international tourist hubs and the Singapore team is keen to work on the project. The team has suggested development of the river banks and the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) officials are planning to conduct a survey soon.

According to CRDA sources, engineering officials are likely to leave for Singapore to study the proposals of the team. They added that it will not be a difficult task to develop the river bay as the State has acquired land for development of the capital in Guntur. Likewise in Krishna district, lands are available in both Ibrahimpatnam and Gollapudi villages along the river bank.

It may be noted that the VGTM Urban Development Authori,ty which was transformed into CRDA, proposed plans to develop the river front park in the name of Vijaya Siri at Bhavanipuram earlier. The UDA officials proposed to develop eatery, recreation, water sports and beach zones in the river front park at a cost of Rs 40 crore.

They also proposed to arrange a ropeway connecting Vijaya Siri park to Bhavani Island to attract tourists. Though the proposal got clearance it is yet to be commissioned. As part of the Singapore team’s proposal both the irrigation officials and CRDA officials are likely to leave for Singapore to study the river front development schemes.
