Speaking to reporters here, Arun Kumar said the people in the state had voted for the BJP-TDP combine because of the belief that the BJP would fulfil its promise to confer Special Status to the State. But, both the parties were now prepared to toss their promises into the river Godavari during Pushkarams when people performed obsequies, he said.

He came down heavily on the Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu for changing his stance after strongly advocating for special status for Andhra Pradesh for the period of 10 years on the floor of Rajya Sabha. He deplored the NDA government for reversing the decision taken by the UPA regime.
