Hyderabad: A major fire broke out in an apartment in Srinagar Colony on Monday evening which created panic among the residents. No casualties were reported. With the timely intervention of the fire personnel, the fire at Usha Enclave in Navodaya Colony was averted. Fire broke out due to short circuit in one of the electrical wires of the apartment. The incident occurred around 5.15 pm after which neighbours informed the police about a fire billowing from the third floor of the apartment complex in ‘B’ Block, Flat No 301.

Police in turn alerted the fire and Rescue Services Department which rushed to the spot.A fire tender each from Madhapur, Langer House and Film Nagar reached the spot. The fire was brought under control after three hours. Furniture and other household materials were completely gutted, the fire officials said, adding that there were no injuries. TDP MLA Maganti Gopinath, ACP (Banjara Hills) D Uday Kumar Reddy, CI (P Murali Krishna) visited the spot.
