Telugus bag top marks in JEE Main

JEE website crashes minutes after announcement
Hyderabad: Sri Chaitanya Narayana Group claimed that two of its students B Vidya Sagar Naidu and K Nagendra Reddy bagged all-India top mark by securing 340 out of 360 in the open category. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Monday declared the results of Joint Entrance Examination-Main 2015. In all-India open category, three students of Sri Chaitanya Narayana scored 336 and above, nine students scored 330 and above, 14 students scored 325 and above, 16 students scored 320 and above, 27 students scored 310 and above, 51 students scored 300 and above (only from TS and AP), they said.
Of 106 students of Telangana Social Welfare Residential Institutions Society (TSWREIS) Colleges, 65 students qualified in the examination and five students qualified in the general category. E.Ramanajaneyulu secured 116 marks and Ch Nagarjuna secured 111 marks, Dr RS Praveen Kumar, Secretary, TSWREIS said. According to the reports, the cut off mark is 105 this year for general category students. Last year it was 115.
"Students from various centres across the country had mentioned after the exam that physics was relatively more difficult than mathematics and chemistry. Some of the physics questions were lengthy and needed innovative thinking process to solve them. Questions in mathematics were rated as being 'easy to medium' difficult by cross section of students. The chemistry questions held its line of difficulty as that of the previous year’s edition.
So the shift in the cut off being lower by 10 points can be largely attributed to physics questions being tougher and in a lower magnitude to mathematics paper," Ajay Antony, Course Director JEE, TIME said. Within seconds of announcement the official JEE website crashed putting several students in doldrums. This year, 13 lakh students appeared for the examination (both pen and paper and online).
Students who cleared the examination are eligible for admissions into undergraduate engineering courses offered by the National Institute of Technology (NITs) and Indian Institute of Information Technology. Of the total candidates qualified in the examination, top 1.5 lakh students are eligible to appear for the JEE Advanced examination. The successful candidates should register online for the JEE Advanced from May 2 to 7. The JEE Advanced examination paper-I and II is scheduled on May 24 and results will be declared on June 18.
