As part of 2,559th Buddha Jayanthi celebrations the Cultural Centre of Vijayawada, Akriti Art Gallery, organised an art exhibition titled ‘A Tribute to Amaravathi Glory’ on Monday. The exhibition displaying sculptures and paintings of life of Gowthama Buddha was inaugurated by district collector Babu A.

Speaking on the occasion, collector opined that there is a need for encouraging art and artists in the city. He appreciated the efforts of the artists R Mallikarjuna Rao, who is joint director of the Social Welfare department in Guntur besides lauding the efforts of Artmorf and Allagadda who bought out finely carved sculptures.

Center for Mahayana Buddhist Studies of Acharya Nagarjuna University professor Jagarlamudi Sitaramamma and others spoke on the occasion. General manager of marketing communications of the gallery M Lakshmi said that more such exhibitions will be held in future. One can visit the exhibition at the Madhu Malaxmi Chambers from 9 am to 8 pm till Wednesday.
