Hyderabad: Revealing little-known aspects of his personality, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Monday surprised the TRS leaders attending the orientation session by stating that politics was not his cup of tea. The Chief Minister said that he was more inclined towards cultural studies than politics, which he unexpectedly strayed into.

In this pursuit, he had read thousands of books of various subjects. “I used to carry a big bag of books and a small one to carry clothes when I used travel,” he said. Exhorting the leaders to stay away from corruption and strive to win hearts of people, the Chief Minister said the party’s ultimate aim should be to serve society. “We did not come here to live for 1,000 years. We did not join politics to make money. Money can be made by selling even cow dung,” KCR remarked. Asking the party leaders to mingle with people and address their grievances, he wanted the leaders to ensure that not even a small piece of land should go dry for lack of power supply.


“The politicians should learn to update and live up to peoples’ expectations by serving them the best,” he said. The previous governments did not even think of giving any awards in honour of Dasarathi, a noted Telangana poet, he said.Stating that the orientation sessions helped the participants to understand public life, the Chief Minister said that such sessions would be conducted once in six months for the leaders to get hold on the current issues.

The Chief Minister said that Sri Parvathanama “Buddha Vanam” at Nagarjunasagar would be developed into a world class Buddhist destination on par with Bodh Gaya in Bihar. “A special authority will be set up to develop Buddha Vanam. A meeting will be convened to decide on appointing a permanent official for the authority to develop Nagarjunasagar as a tourist destination,” he said.
