Hyderabad: Communist Party of India, Telangana State unit secretary Chada Venkat Reddy on Thursday lambasted Chief Minister KCR over Mid-Manair dam arrests Speaking to media persons, here on Thursday, CPI Secretary criticised KCR for his poor governance and controversial remarks.
“KCR agitated over Mid-Manair irrigation project during Telangana stir in 2008 and faulted the then united AP government, but now arresting CPI leaders who are agitating for the same, clearly exhibits his double standards. We demand immediate withdrawal of cases and release the arrested leaders” says Venkat Reddy.
Venkat Reddy alleged that the Mid-Manair dam was balancing reservoir for the SRSP flood flow canal and Pranahita-Chevella lift irrigation project. But the government failed to provide compensation to the displaced persons of 13 villages.
The CM had also promised to provide appropriate compensation and rehabilitation to the displaced six months ago, but nothing happened so far. Venkat Reddy demanded TRS government to provide proper compensation to all land oustees as per new Land Acquisition Act, by June 30 or else CPI would intensify the agitation from July 1.
