Hyderabad: A former outsourcing employee of the electricity department tried to kill himself by consuming insecticide in front of Samatha Block at Secretariat on Friday. Chandrasekhar, 28, worked as an outsourcing employee in Vootlapally sub-station in Miryalaguda mandal of Nalgonda district as an operator for two years from 2012-2014.

However, his services were terminated without any formal notice, according to sources. Accompanied by a former colleague Satish, Chandrasekhar came to Telangana Secretariat on Friday but was told by the security staff that Chief Minister was not in the office.

Disappointed over not being able to meet the Chief Minister he tried to end his life to bring plight of outsourced employees to the notice of the government. “He consumed insecticide and fell unconscious in a park opposite ‘C’ Block,” the police said. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital and his situation was reported to be stable. The incident kept police on their toes. Police claim that Chandrasekhar took to this act to grab attention in the media. Police took his friend Satish into custody for interrogation.
