It’s not just the ruling TRS but the TDP as well appears to be chanting Warangal ‘mantra’, giving prominence to the region. Be it in evincing his interest in developing Warangal city as second only to Hyderabad or in bestowing the key posts to the leaders of the region, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has treated Warangal, the epicentre of Telangana movement, with utmost care.
Warangal: It’s not just the ruling TRS but the TDP as well appears to be chanting Warangal ‘mantra’, giving prominence to the region. Be it in evincing his interest in developing Warangal city as second only to Hyderabad or in bestowing the key posts to the leaders of the region, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has treated Warangal, the epicentre of Telangana movement, with utmost care.
TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu also chose Warangal for his first political meeting after the State bifurcation. It was testified again on Thursday after KCR approved of the candidature of Kadiyam Srihari and Bodikunti Venkateswarlu, both from Warangal, to be among the five that the TRS party fielded for the six vacancies in the Legislative Council election under the MLA quota.
On the other hand, the TDP chief fielded Warangal’s Vem Narender Reddy for the lone seat that the party was assured of in the Council based on its strength in Assembly. Unless there was any dramatic development, all the three leaders of the district are set to make their entry into the Council. It may be mentioned here that TRS had fielded five candidates banking on the support of members from other parties, though its numbers assure for only four.
Vem Narender Reddy’s candidature comes as a surprise despite the disgruntled voices of the party leaders from other districts that Warangal was given more than its due. If one goes by the count of key posts held by the local leaders, it’s apparent that both the parties have given more priority to Warangal district than that of other districts.
Besides, Assembly Speaker’s post held by S Madhusudhana Chary, the other TRS leaders of the district who hold prominent posts are Kadiyam Srihari (Deputy Chief Minister) and Ajmeera Chandulal (Tribal Welfare Minister). Apart from this, the TRS government made D Vinay Bhaskar and V Sathish Kumar as the Parliamentary Secretaries with Cabinet status, and B V Papa Rao as the State Advisor.
Of late, the TDP also gave prominent place to Warangal by nominating Gundu Sudha Rani and Garikapati Mohan Rao to the Rajya Sabha, besides appointing Errabelli Dayakar Rao as the leader of the Assembly. Incidentally, all the three leaders in the fray for the Council elections have their roots connected to the TDP. If Srihari joined the TRS just before the elections last year, Venkateswarlu made it to the TRS after it came to power.
