After months of teasing through several spy shots, Fiat has finally made the world premiere of the 2016 Aegea project at the ongoing Istanbul Motor Show in Turkey. A successor to the Italian automaker’s Linea sedan, the new Aegea has been designed as a saloon right from ground up and is not a hatchback with a boot, but will spin off a hatchback and an estate model, which will be revealed later this year. Going by the first images released, boy oh boy, the Aegea is a looker carrying an extremely stunning design and showcases its Italian flare.

In terms of engine options, the Aegea will be powered by four units including two MultiJet II diesel and two petrol units with power output ranging from 95 PS to 120 PS. Transmission options will include manual and automatic gearboxes while the most fuel efficient variant will be returning a figure of 25 km/l. Fiat chose to premiere the Aegea in Istanbul since the four-door sedan will be built at its Tofas facility in Bursa, Turkey that has a capacity of 4 lakh units and will be exporting to 40 different markets across Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Fiat though will not be calling the sedan as the Aegea when it goes on sale in November this year in Turkey and instead, will get a new name on the production ready model. Expect to see some changes on the production spec version but despite the changes, the Aegea will most certainly be one of the best looking sedans in its segment. Fiat India is tightlipped about bringing the Aegea to the country as a replacement to the Linea and even if the automaker does take a decision, it won’t be before 2016. This is one Fiat that we need to have in India.
