4 of IPL betting gang arrested
The Uppal police arrested four persons accused of betting huge amount during IPL cricket match held at Ranchi in Jharkhand on May 22. All the four were booked under AP Gaming Act for committing the offence from a flat in Uppal. According to police, Nelapati Naga Bheemeshwar Rao, 40, Parsagani Mallikarjun, 34, Jedapally Suresh, 26, Nelapati Rama Rao-- all residents of Nellore, were arrested from Laxmi Mamatha Apartments, Swaroopnagar in Uppal.

On receipt of information, the Inspector of Uppal Police Station and his staff reached the flat and found four accused involved in betting huge amount during IPL cricket match between Chennai Super Kings Vs Royal Challenge Bangalore on May 22. The bookie, Ravi, resident of Bhimavaram in West Godavari district is still at large.
The accused came to Hyderabad about 20 days ago for the purpose of cricket betting and rented a flat. During the course of interrogation, they disclosed that they were using IPL cricket matches for betting. They contacted with one bookie by name Ravi. At the time of raid, the police seized Rs 1.95 lakh in cash, 40 mobile phones, two laptops, two cars, a TV and four briefcases (betting boxes containing cell phones) from their possession.
Cops disperse warring groups Pitched battle was witnessed on the main road of Santoshnagar, when two parties claiming the property near Madannapet’s Dhobhighat pelted stones and wielded sticks to counter each other on Saturday. Police dispersed the groups and cases were booked.
