Restating that Andhra Pradesh is not eligible for the Special Status category, Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said that Congress was responsible for AP not getting the special status.


The Union Minister said that there would not be any hurdles for AP special status if the provision of the special status had been incorporated in the AP Reorganization Act.


Even the Planning Commission and the National Development Council did not agree for the special status category for AP, said Mr Venkaiah Naidu who further added that AP does not have eligibility and cannot be granted the special status based on the state’s deficit budget.


Stating that he is has to look into interests of the entire country and not just AP alone, Venkaiah Naidu said that BJP will continue the friendship with TDP but will grow independently in the southern states.
