Vijayawada city Mayor Koneru Sridhar performed Bhumi Pooja for several road works in Division 14 on Monday. Accompanied by the Vijayawada East legislator Gadde Ramamohana Rao and corpoartors Ummadisetti Bahadur and Chennupati Gandhi, the Mayor laid foundation stone for the new roads in the division in Gayatrinagar and Kalanagar areas.
The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) would spend Rs 80 lakh from the non-plan grant and the State Finance Commission funds, besides the funds from the MP’s Constituency Development Fund. Koneru Sridhar has said that the two areas in the division would now get better roads with underground drainage facility.
“The VMC would spend Rs 80 lakh from the non-plan grant and the State Finance Commission grants besides another Rs 23 lakh from the MP’s funds,” he added. The Mayor instructed the civic officials of the engineering department to speed up the process and complete the works before the onset of monsoon. He asked them to ensure that the inconvenience to the people is minimised.
