Hyderabad: The State Election Commissioner (SEC) V Nagi Reddy has directed Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner and Special Officer to complete the entire process of delimitation of wards and reservation by October 31. The State Election Commissioner held a review meeting with senior officials, including Municipal Administration Principal Secretary MG Gopal, the GHMC Commissioner, Municipal Administration Director Dr B. Janardhan Reddy and GHMC Special Commissioner Navin Mittal.

The State Election Commissioner said that delimitation and reservation of wards should be completed in a stipulated time after the completion of the process, the election has to be taken up within a span of 45 days. also directed the officials to post the entire information on the website. Nagi Reddy also interacted with the officials and enquired about the process of election, funds, basic amenities, providing of electronic voting machines, requirement of electoral registration officers, returning officers and other important issues with regard to elections.

Somesh Kumar informed that the works pertaining to delimitation of wards and reservation process are being taken up on priority for which the GHMC officials are coordinating and informing the process which are being taken up. There are 150 Municipal wards in the existing GHMC limits and they are likely to be enhanced upto 200 wards. He said field level works pertaining to delimitation of wards have already been completed and the works pertaining to Head Office would be completed by this month end.

The GHMC chief said that the after the directions of the Government, the delimitation wards list would be announced. He further stated that polling stations according to wards and voters list are all being properly prepared and house to house survey is being taken up for BC voters. For the conduct of the elections, the GHMC would need around 50,000 personnel and nearly Rs. 36 crores expenditure. Ramakrishna Rao, Additional Commissioner (Admn.,), Devender Reddy, Chief City Planner, CCP and senior officials have participated in the review meeting.
